How to tell it is time to replace your hot tub cover

Zoltán Gubicza

A good hot tub cover serves us faithfully for years, but weather and constant chemical vapour wear down any material in the end. Many people put off replacing it, yet a worn-out cover quietly drives up the electricity bill.

Three sure signs that your current cover is no longer doing its job

  1. 1

    The cover has got heavy

If lifting it has become real physical work, the insulating core has soaked up moisture. A waterlogged cover loses its insulating power and strains the structure as well.

  2. 2

    Water pools in the middle

If the middle has sagged slightly and rainwater stands on it, the internal spine is tired. That is dangerous: under the weight of accumulated snow or ice the cover can give way entirely.

  3. 3

    Musty smells or mould

If you notice a damp, mouldy smell after covering the spa, moisture has already found its way between the layers.

The fix: do not wait until your heating bill goes through the roof. With 15 years of upholstery experience and millimetre-accurate bespoke manufacturing, we will build you a new, guaranteed watertight and lightweight thermal cover — and years of untroubled relaxation with it.
